KMPrints: Building a Blinkit-Like Print Delivery Platform for a Local Business
KMPrints.in was built to help a local printing business bring the convenience of on-demand delivery to the traditional printing industry.
The idea was simple: what if ordering prints could feel as easy as ordering groceries on Blinkit? Instead of customers having to physically visit a printing shop, explain their requirements, wait for the prints to be prepared, and return to collect them, we designed and built a digital experience that brings online printing and local print delivery together.
Turning a Traditional Printing Business Into a Digital Product
Local printing businesses often operate through a highly offline workflow. Customers typically walk into a shop, share files, specify the number of copies, discuss paper and printing requirements, and wait for the order.
We saw an opportunity to transform that experience. For KMPrints, our goal was to create a digital printing platform that could make the process more convenient for customers while helping the business operate like a modern on-demand service.
The inspiration was similar to the experience users already expect from platforms such as Blinkit: choose what you need, place an order digitally, and have it delivered to you.
Designing the Online Printing Experience
The challenge wasn't simply building an e-commerce website. We had to think about how people actually order printing services.
Unlike conventional e-commerce products, a print order can involve different requirements around files, quantities, sizes, formats, and delivery. The digital experience therefore needed to make a traditionally complicated process feel straightforward.
The product was designed around three key ideas:
- Order printing online
- Make the process simple and convenient
- Enable local print delivery
This transformed the traditional print-shop experience into a more accessible print-on-demand service.
Bringing Blinkit-Like Convenience to Printing
The most important product idea behind KMPrints was convenience. Consumers have become accustomed to ordering almost everything online and receiving it at their doorstep. Printing, however, is still largely dependent on physical stores and manual interactions.
We wanted the experience to feel less like "go to a print shop" and more like "order your prints and get them delivered."
This approach gave the local business a way to compete on convenience and digital experience, rather than relying entirely on its physical storefront.
Building for a Local Business
One of the interesting aspects of the KMPrints project was that it wasn't a large consumer-tech startup. It was a local business looking to modernise its operations and customer experience.
That meant the product had to balance two things: what customers expect from a modern digital product, and what a local printing business can realistically operate and fulfil.
Our role was to bridge that gap through product design, UX, UI, and technology. The result was a digital platform designed around the actual business model instead of forcing the business into a generic e-commerce template.
From Print Shop to Digital Print Platform
KMPrints represents a broader shift happening across local businesses. A traditional business doesn't necessarily need to become a massive technology company to benefit from digital transformation.
Sometimes, the opportunity is simply to take an existing service and make it easier to discover, easier to order, easier to fulfil, and easier to receive.
For KMPrints, that meant taking a conventional printing service and building a digital-first ordering and delivery experience around it.
The Takeaway
KMPrints.in was our attempt to answer a simple question: why should ordering prints feel harder than ordering groceries?
By combining a local printing business with a modern digital product experience, we helped create a more convenient way for customers to access printing services.
The project brought together web design, product design, UX/UI design, e-commerce, local delivery, and digital transformation to turn a traditional print business into a more modern, on-demand service.
KMPrints wasn't just a website for a printing company. It was a step toward making printing as convenient as ordering anything else online.
